Darren's Round The World Trip (1992/1993)I left London on June 29th, 1992, heading for Tokyo for six months, where I hitch-hiked from one end of the country to the other and back again. Then on to Perth, Australia, for three months, and then by coach to Ayers Rock, then Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. Then a flight to Christchurch, New Zealand and three weeks hitch-hiking around South and North Island, before flying from Auckland to Los Angeles. Three weeks and some long coach journeys later I flew home from New York on 13th June 1993. Here are the per-country pages, including a list of friends I made in each:
If you knew me during this time please get in touch: I'd love to hear what you've been doing these past dozen years. You'll be relieved to know my moustache went the moment I got back to the U.K. I'm now married with two young daughters, and living in Japan. Here is a then and now photo:
Best way to contact me is email to darren@dcook.org. Put "Travel" in the subject line to help get past my (sometimes over-zealous) spam filters. For people who get in touch I'll give a username and password to the full photo albums. If you knew me even earlier, at school, also see Darren's Schooling. |
